| Born:
8th May 1987 in Scotland. Previous
clubs: Glasgow Rangers, Clyde, Queen of the South
and FC Haka.
Signed:
November 2009.
Brian Gilmour
joined Lincoln City in November 2009 on a
short-term deal; he was allowed to do so outside
of the transfer window as he was unattached.
On paper, this
could be a very good signing for Lincoln; in
fact, I have actually heard of Gilmour for when
he was playing in Scotland where he was quite
highly rated. He has been capped at Under-19 and
Under-20 levels for Scotland, which is also a
good sign.
He began his
career as a trainee at Glasgow Rangers in 2005
but left two years later without making a first
team debut. However, he did spend time on loan at
Clyde - while on the books of Rangers - making 13
appearances for the club.
Gilmour was
allowed to leave Rangers in August 2007 to join
Queen of the South on a free transfer. He spent
just one season at the club but figured in their
first team in 27 matches - 18 of those were
starts - but was an unused for Queen Of South's
Scottish Cup Final in 2008.
A move abroad
beckoned in summer 2008 when he impressed
sufficient during a trail for Finnish club FC
Haka to sign him on an 18-month contract.
However, despite a promising start to his career
in Finland, he was dropped and made only nine
appearances for FC Haka before having his
contract mutually terminated in May 2009.
Ever since,
Gilmour has been without a club although he has
spent time on trial at Blackpool before joining
Lincoln City.
