Lincoln City entertain Dagenham & Redbridge at Sincil
Bank tonight; at least what is left of The Imps' first
team do!
City have been hit by further central defender injuries
following their victory over Hereford United last Friday.
This game saw Lincoln lose starters Moses Swaibu and Ian
Pearce during play; the outlook is not good.
Imps' assistant-manager Pearce suffered a hamstring
injury and it is feared that he will miss the rest of the
season. Swaibu has not yet been ruled out completely with
his ankle injury but is a huge doubt. He will be assessed
later this afternoon.
Lincoln are already without first choice central
defenders Adam Watts (broken leg) and Nathan Baker
(ankle). This leaves Danny Hone as the only fit central
defender on Lincoln's first team books. If Swaibu cannot
play then Imps' boss Chris Sutton has the choice of
moving right-back Paul Green to the middle or giving a
debut to youth teamer Greg Enstone.
Further up the pitch, and the injuries are just as bad.
Midfielders Chris Herd (ankle), Richard Butcher and Clark
Keltie (both hamstring) are all out of this match. In
attack, Lenell John-Lewis has a hamstring injury, but
probably would not have started anyway as on-loan
strikers Drewe Broughton and Davide Somma are forming a
good partnership.
Dagenham have a couple of injuries as midfielder Stuart
Thurgood looks set to miss the rest of the season with a
knee injury, while defender Will Antwi is doubtful with a
calf strain.
One Dagenham player who will be particularly disappointed
to miss the Lincoln game is ex-Imp Peter Gain, who is
suspended.
Finally, congratulations must go to Dagenham &
Redbridge goalkeeper Tony Roberts who is set to make his
450th appearance if selected tonight.
