BEN WRIGHT
Born: 1st July 1980 in Munster, Germany.

Position: striker.

Lincoln City career: 46+(29) appearances and 18 goals between August 2007 - May 2009.

Clubs: Kettering Town, Bristol City, Woking, Viking, IK Start, Lincoln City and Macclesfield Town.

Ben Wright was signed from Norwegian club IK Start in August 2007. He was hailed by then Imps' boss John Schofield as a terrific signing. Strange then, that Schofield was reluctant to play Wright - a mistake that probably helped lose Schofield his job.

When Peter Jackson took over as Lincoln City manager in October 2007, he recalled Wright to the starting line-up. Wright repaid Jackson's faith with several vital goals during the 2007/08 season. He finished the club's leading goalscorer with 15 strikes to his name and those goals helped Lincoln City retain their Football League status.

Wright began his career at non-league Kettering Town in 1998. It was not long before Bristol City paid Kettering £30,000 for Wright. However, during his two years at Bristol City, Wright made just two substitute appearances for them. He was also loaned out to Woking for a short while.

In June 2001, Wright moved to Norwegian club Viking, where he played in the UEFA Cup. He later transferred to fellow Norwegian slide IK Start, from which Lincoln signed him August 2007.

Once Wright's Lincoln City FC career was underway, he scored 15 goals during the 2007/08 season, to help lift Lincoln clear of relegation from the Football League. Unfortunately, Wright was unable to build on this momentum and scored just three goals during the 2008/09 season despite being a regular in the matchday squad.

Wright paid the price for his failure in front of goal when he was released by Lincoln City in May 2009. Within a few days though, he was back in employment when he signed for Keith Alexander's Macclesfield Town.

LEE FRECKLINGTON
Born: 8th September 1985 in Lincoln.

Position: midfielder.

Lincoln City career: 110+(31) appearances and 23 goals between October 2003 - May 2009.

Clubs: Lincoln City, Lincoln United, Stamford and Peterborough United.

Lee Frecklington was a promising midfield player who graduated through the youth team ranks at Lincoln City.

He signed his first ever professional contract in May 2005, but had already made his debut for Lincoln City. His debut was against Telford United in the LDV Vans' Trophy in October 2003. A couple of month's latter he joined Lincoln United on loan in order to gain some first team experience.

During the 2004/05 season, he played in three Lincoln City league matches as a substitute and seemed destined to feature in many more during the 2005/06 season. However, he spent the early part of the 2005/06 season on loan at Lincolnshire non-league club Stamford, where he played alongside ex-Imp Adam Buckley. Upon his return to Lincoln City, he became a fringe player on the verge of a first team run. He latter started several matches but mainly had to settle for a substitute's role.

Frecklington was very popular among Lincoln City FC's supporters who rated him very highly; a player for the future. John Schofield's elevation to manager of Lincoln City FC aided Frecklington's first team cause because Schofield was his former youth team boss. This prediction proved correct and Frecklington elevated himself to one of the best players at club during the 2006/07 season.

His footballing education continued during the 2007/08 season and Frecklington became one of the most coveted players in League Two. In January 2008, Lincoln City rejected a reported £250,000 bid from rivals Peterborough United for Frecklington. However, that was not to deter Peterborough and in February 2009, they returned with a new bid and Frecklington joined them on a three-month loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.

Unfortunately, Frecklington's initial Peterborough career was disrupted through injury and he made just two starts. Fortunately, Peterborough were sufficiently impressed with his progress to turn his loan move into a permanent transfer in May 2009. Peterborough beat off competition from Norwich City to sign Frecklington.

LEE BEEVERS
Born: 4th December 1983 in Doncaster.

Position: Left-back, right-back or central defence.

Lincoln City career: 171+(14) appearances and 11 goals between February 2005 - June 2009.

Clubs: Ipswich, Boston United, Lincoln City and Colchester United.

International honours: 6 Wales Under-21 caps.

Lee Beevers, who was born in Doncaster, is a versatile defender, although Boston United believed that right-back is his best position.

He won the Boston United players' player-of-the-year and Boston United manager's young-player-of-the-year awards for the 2003/04 season, so it was a big surprise when Boston sold him to Lincoln in February 2005 especially as Beevers had been linked to QPR.

Despite his South Yorkshire roots, Beevers is a former Welsh youth international, and was signed by Boston from Ipswich Town in March 2003. He was a regular for the Wales' Under-21 side until his retirement from the Under-21's in November 2005; he appeared six times for the Welsh Under-21 side.

He joined Lincoln for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £50,000. However, he had yet to live up to this fee and the 2006/07 season would prove to be a pivotal season in his Lincoln City career. Lincoln, following the departures of Gareth McAuley and Jamie McCombe, had defensive vacancies, so Beevers had to claim one of these places - not least because he failed to hold down a first team place during the 2005/06 season.

Beevers did not disappoint even although he failed to establish himself in one particular role. Despite playing in several positions during the season, he was rewarded with the Lincoln City FC Player of the Season award for 2006/07. The following season saw Beevers enjoy a steady season mainly playing at centre-half.

An absence of a left-back in the 2008/09 season's Lincoln City squad saw Imps' midfielder Aaron Brown played in this position; he was not very good. This prompted Lincoln's manager Peter Jackson to try Beevers at left-back and he proved a success leading to Jackson hailing him as "the best left-back in the division".

Beevers was offered a new contract in January 2009 but rejected the deal in order to keep his options open. Five months later, and Beevers was again offered the same terms as in January 2009 but speculation quickly emerged linking him with a move away from Lincoln.

Motherwell were reported to have offered him a pre-contract; whether that was correct, we shall never know. There was definite interest from Motherwell, but the situation was complicated when Motherwell's manager Mark McGhee left to join Aberdeen. Instead, Beevers opted to join Colchester United in June 2009 on a free transfer under the Bosman Ruling.
